Wedding Decoration And Food
Food And Drink
We've all been to weddings where you're starving by the time the meal arrives, especially if you happen to be sitting at the table that's served last. The quality of food that's served says a lot about the wedding and is always something that people talk about afterwards.
Small Snacks Between Meals
Couples are more aware than ever that if the ceremony is at 11am and the meal isn't served until 5pm, many guests could feel a little light-headed by the time they sit down to eat, especially after a glass of champagne or two. You can of course serve nibbles such as canapés or strawberries with your drinks reception, which will certainly be appreciated by your guests.
The Sit Down Meal
Usually at a wedding all the guests will sit down to a seated meal together. Although some couples are now choosing to miss out this stage and go straight on to a less formal buffet instead, the vast majority of couples see this as an important part of the wedding and a good way to encourage the guests to mix. The great news is that Scotland is well known for it's fantastic food, and many venues use freshly prepared, locally grown produce. If you're getting married in a hotel or country house, they will usually have a set menu for weddings for which they will charge you a standard price per head. The price will include the cost of the waiting staff and one of the advantages of this type of meal is that it is a tried and tested formula that will satisfy most tastebuds.
Marquee Menus
If you are holding your reception in a marquee or another venue that doesn't
have it's own kitchen, you will probably have to hire an outside caterer to provide
the meal. The disadvantage is that you will have to spend more time and effort
choosing a caterer and your menu, but at the same time you will no doubt enjoy
tasting lots of different foods. The other plus is that you will have a greater
selection of meal options to choose from. However your meal is to be supplied
it is a good idea to meet the chef and discuss your ideas with them.
