Fresh Ideas For A Scottish Wedding

Take Your Colour Palette From Your Clan Tartan

When looking for a colour palette for your wedding to use in flowers, invitations etc. Why not take the colours from the grooms tartan?

Each Table A Clan

At your reception it's a nice idea to have a different 'theme' on each table, making it easier for guests to find their seats and giving them an ice breaker to start conversations. Why not give each table a different clan, using tartans and crests (both can be bought through us, and we can supply a high res clan crest). You could also give a brief description of that clan for your guests to read.

Childrens Entertainment

Children tend to get bored at weddings if they're made to sit down for a long time so why not give them a bag of goodies to keep them entertained. If your budget can stretch to it you could even hire a childrens entertainer, or create a play space for them to reek as much havoc as they wish.

Use Your Clan Plant

Many Clans have a plant badge assigned to them - see www.scotclans.com. It would be a nice touch to incorporate this into your bouquet, or table/church decorations, or even hair pieces.

Add Tartan To Your Wedding Dress

To create a more Scottish wedding dress add a flash of tartan, this could be done by wearing a tartan sash or buying tartan material and having a dressmaker add a rim of tartan to the bottom of your dress.

Unusual Wedding Gifts

Christian charity World Vision is finding its way onto wedding gift list of generous couples who want to make a difference. Where guests may give a traditional gift of bathroom towels (£33), this donation could buy a toilet for a needy community, improving sanitation for communities living in poverty and helping protect families and children from disease. Unusual Wedding Favours

For a green themed wedding, why not give your guests engraved garden plaques? Together with a packet of seeds, these unique favours allow family and friends to plant seeds and place the plaque in the ground so that they are forever reminded about your big day.

Wedding Scrap Book

This gives you a way of recording the people, places and meaningful events in your life. Rather than leaving mementos tucked away, display them with pride and release your creative side. The scrapbook could also be handed around at the reception for your guests to write a little something.
