Suggested Readings
In a Religious ceremony, particular attention should be given to the reading. There are many readings to choose from, and the Minister should be able to suggest a few.
Some bible readings worthy of consideration are:
1 Corinthians 13: 1-8: A favourite reading about the definition
of love
John 2: 1-11: The story of the first miracle at the wedding at Cana
John 15: 9-12: Refers to the depth of love
1 John 4: 7-13: 'Beloved, let us love one another'
1 John 3: 18-24: Gives the injunction to love in deed and truth
Ephesians 5: 1-2, 25-33: Not such a popular reading today, possibly because of it's instruction that wives should obey their husbands
Romans 12: 1-2, 9-13: Practical advice on the Christian
life

Scottish Wedding Prayer
Lord help us to remember when
We first met and the strong
love that grew between us.
To work that love into
practical things so that nothing
can divide us.
We ask for words both kind
and loving and hearts always
ready to ask forgiveness
as well as to forgive.
Dear Lord, we put our
marriage into your hands
