Handmade Ladies Kilt Enquiry
Kilts are made to measure garments - Each kilt is handmade to your exact specifications and there are several options available in the style and type of kilt you order. we will require some information from you so that we can process your enquiry - once we have your enquiry we will check to see what cloth options are available and give you a price.
Ladies handmade kilts are ideal as 'dancers kilts' as they are made to the same high standards - we can also supply any dancers tartan..
WAIST (1)
This is the starting point. Take your normal hip measurement.
MID-HIP (2)
This measurement should be halfway between the hip and seat.
SEAT (3)
Take the widest area across the bottom, and measure
around, do not put the tape measure tight, this should be a fairly loose measurement.
LENGTH (4)
Whilst kneeling on the floor and keeping your back upright. That is, not looking forward and down whilst taking the measurement, measure from the starting point to the floor. There is a temptation to lean forward to view the measurement but this causes an inaccurate length measurement.
Choosing Your Tartan:
There are thousands of registered tartans however most weavers only keep a stock of around 500 of the most popular. Some tartans may only be available in certain weights and we will check this for you.
Clan, Family, District and Corporate tartans
Anyone who has the correct clan surname or whose surname is a sept of a clan can wear a kilt in that tartan, The wearing of district tartans or others such as 'Scottish National' or' Flower of Scotland' is open to anyone. There are also 'Corporate Tartans' which have been designed specifically for a company or organisation and wearing of these can be restricted. However in most cases these would be 'special weaves'
Special Weaves
In cases where a tartan is not available we can arrange to have it woven for you however most weavers have a minimum run on such orders which is usually 15 Meters (enough to make 3-4 kilts)
What Happens Now?
Once you have submitted your order we will check the availability of your tartan. we will check you measurements for any obvious errors and check with our kiltmakers on completion times. we will then get back to you with a cost and an estimate of how long your order will take. We will also give you an order number - simply enter this on the purchase page (you will be given the address of his page) and complete the transaction. your order will then be processed.
